A curse broken.....

...more than 200 years after the first man of color was brought to this land in chains....

This is a victory for us all and leads closer to the ideal that is America!

Today I am, for the first time in more than eight years, proud to be American!

He does seem to have provided a modicum of hope to the American people. I expect you'll be looking for results now?

I am not a starry eyed optimist...

The next 4 years are going to be some of the toughest our republic has ever faced. Mr. Obama will have to rise to the challenge and compel and convict his countrymen to sacrifice.

We are more than ever before at a turning point....

I think that yesterday's vote was the turning point. It's the results of that decision that we have to wait for now. I don't know about you but my fear is that someone will try to silence Obama and his policy of change either through violence or obfuscation.

Have you been to Tam's blog today? She asks what the single change you would like to see would be. An interesting question.

just a nit, but it was closer to 400 years ago.

I agree that the road is rough ahead for this country. I am hopeful that Obama will actually be able to transcend his office and inspire this country in an unprecedented way. I think he has the best shot at steering the country where it needs to go.

Accountability is a word that is coming up repeatedly today in interviews within the black community. It needs to hold true for all of us - not just "them".

Not since Reagan has a new president had such a strong mandate. And not since Roosevelt has a Democrat had such. There is going to be immense pressure to see this 'change' and I am not sure if any one other than JC could satisfy the people.

I just pray that he will be a strong and honest leader. He seems to have what it takes. And I hope we can have the patience necessary to allow him to do his job.

But you know what? That poster is creepy. Too much like something you would see plastered to a wall in old East Berlin, or Havana or Tehran.
